Songwriting duo Scott McPherson and Jamie Grant present a debut album that lives up to its name.
With an approach that hearkens back to the sophisticated melodic charms of the 70s (viz. Nilsson, Randy Newman, Paul McCartney, ELO etc) Song is pure classic pop gold.
One has to admire the sheer commitment to song writing craft displayed here without compromise whatsoever considering that the modern pop music industry has rejected the very values Song stands for.
But it matters not, for those of us who are able to appreciate the blood, sweat and tears obviously poured into tracks like “Housekeeper”, “No For An Answer”, “Sunday Brunch” and many others, then Song is an absolute boon!
… still there’s more …
