LANEWAY SINGAPORE 2016 BREAKDOWN: BATTLES, BEACH HOUSE & CASHEW CHEMISTS

Laneway2016

With the new year beckoning, Laneway Singapore 2016 is a month away and over the next few weeks, Power of Pop will give you the lowdown on the TWENTY-ONE artists who will grace the occasion on 30th January (in alphabetical order).

BATTLES

Experimental rock at a hipster-centric festival? Why not? This progressive rock trio has established its reputation with 3 well-received albums. Expect a lively & ambitious live set.

Recommended for — serious art-rock lovers.

BEACH HOUSE

Dream pop duo famous for its hazy ballads is back at Laneway Singapore after five years. Whilst it is an achievement for any modern pop band to survive this long, its sound has stagnated somewhat. But it is that sound that endears Beach House to discerning hipsters.

Recommended for — twentysomething indie pop lovers

CASHEW CHEMISTS

Flying the flag for Singapore rock, the band released a dynamic sophomore effort Previously On… that puts them in good stead for their Laneway debut. Having played previously in Baybeats and Urbanscapes, the band is definitely a top draw as a live festival act.

Recommended for — indie rock lovers of all ages.
