Advert

Well, that was the year that was 2010. Time to put it all behind and look forward to 2011.

What is there to look forward to? On the local music front, we can expect albums from The Cheating Sons (above), Caracal, King Kong Jane, Cove Red and Lunarin. In addition, TypeWriter will be playing Esplanade Recital Studio on 28th Jan.

For gigs (foreign band wise), as in the words of Chris Toh – “who isn’t coming to Singapore in 2011?” Well, at last count, we have Owen Pallett, Villagers, Crystal Castles, Faithless, Friendly Fire, Temper Trap, Warpaint, Yeasayer, Holy Fuck, Deerhunter, Four Year Strong, Foals, Beach House, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Eric Clapton, Santana, Eagles, Iron Maiden, Deftones, Blonde Redhead, Jimmy Eat World, Slash, Stone Temple Pilots, Elvis Costello, MGMT, Whitest Boy Alive, The National, Joanna Newsom, Tortoise, Ed Harcourt (and more) …yikes… and that only brings us to about April!

On the personal level, I will be helping my Noise apprentices (Vanessa Faith and Age of Sinfonia) gear up for the Noise CD and live showcase coming up in the months ahead. In addition, I will be working with Noise and Timbre for the Singer-songwriter program. Also on the horizon music talks at the Esplanade and for the Singapore Writers Festival in March. First quarter will be interesting as we (Deb and I) prepare for her debut EP. Hopefully, also will be able to do something with Celina, Narisa and Humming Kitten. Then, of course, it’s the return of The Recidivists which needs to be seriously looked at and quite possibly a classic rock tribute band as well. Exciting times indeed.

Hope you will come along for the ride.
