Thoughts about how the various superhero TV shows did this week. Spoilers, duh!
AGENTS OF SHIELD 321 – 322
Surprisingly, AoS ended its third season with the strongest finish amongst the comic book adaptations this time round. An agent sacrifices himself to destroy Hive and save the world which results in wholesale changes as the series time jumps six months at the denouement. Have been bitching about this series for some time now but credit where it’s due – there were some great stories at the close of this season – hopefully a good omen for season 4.
THE FLASH 222
Sigh. The penultimate episode of season 2 was a massive disappointment, especially when you consider how amazing the first season was at this stage. The entire Flash – Zoom conflict has been dragged on for too long illogically. A death in the family yet again for Barry but here it seemed so meaningless – how much higher do the stakes have to rise for The Flash? The finale needs to redeem the season and fast!
Equally as listless as the Flash, Arrow continue to limp towards the finish line as Anarky messes Darhk’s apocalyptic plans and the planet is going to pay. With Darhk’s powers at exponential levels, it seems impossible that Oliver and gang can defeat him. Will there be a deus ex machina moment? Hope not, but seems to be leading that way.
Legends of Tomorrow ended its debut season with a finale that was as confusing and poorly written as its 15 predecessors. But the 2nd season tease with Hourman & the Justice Society got our attention well enough.
… still there’s more …
