The final trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII : The Last Jedi has dropped. And it cleverly suggests certain key plot points that may or may not happen.
Although the trailer features voice-overs from most of the characters, there’s little doubt that the story is mainly about Rey and Kylo Ren.
There’s a strong allusion to the connection between Rey and Kylo that is echoed in many scenes in this trailer.
We know that the beginnings of the movie will involve Rey’s training under Luke Skywalker and that is shown here. But significantly, it appears that Luke begins to fear Rey’s power as much as he did, Kylo’s.
So we might find ourselves with a very downbeat Luke deciding to withdraw himself from all that is going on with the Resistance and the First Order. A horrible notion.
There is a powerful scene where it appears that Rey is confronting Snoke, and he is trying to convert her to the dark side. But that may be what the trailer wants you to believe.
Elsewhere, there are encounters set up which border on fan service. Principal of which, is the showdown between Finn and Phasma.
The other one involves a scene where it seems that Kylo is about to kill his mother, General Leia. Seems logical, considering that the actress Carrie Fisher is no longer with us.
And of course, that final scene where it appears that Rey is reaching out to Kylo for help and he extends his hand to her. Does it really pan out that way?
… still there’s more …
