WESTWORLD SEASON ONE EPISODE FIVE

1x05

‘CONTRAPASSO”

The defining motif of the series has been the maze originally revealed to the Man in Black via the scalp of a hapless host. Since then, the quest to solve this maze has ‘infected’ Dolores as well. Unfortunately, the series has also devolved into a narrative maze and unless a few answers are provided VERY soon, us viewers are going to be tired of the multitude of questions.

“THE ALAMO”

Strongest episode yet as the team discover the depth of their bond and learn the value of true heroism and sacrifice as they witness the valour of the men and women caught in the siege of the Alamo. Our main characters are developed vigorously through this episode as they begin to move beyond their two dimensional personalities. About time. Ha.

“SEVEN THREE”

One intriguing aspect of this series, is the ability of Reimy Sullivan to recall two parallel time lines after alteration due to prevention of her father’s death in the 1st episode. This is explored fully this week and it’s interesting to note the differences. Peyton List is doing a grand job portraying a character caught between two time lines and her frustration and helplessness are expressed well. No progress on the Nightingale case here but one gets the feeling that the villainous Stan Moreno needs to addressed as well.
