Finally! A genre film festival in Singapore, we can call our very own!
Curated by local filmmaker Eric Khoo with South Korean film programmer Jongsuk Thomas Nam and organised by mm2 Entertainment, Scream Asia Film Festival promises to be exciting, ground-breaking and of course, terrifying!
Let’s run through the films I’m looking forward to the most.
ZOMBIEPURA (Singapore) 19 Oct 7pm
Totally appropriate that the opening film comes from Singapore as the popular tropes of army comedy and zombie horror combine to promise chills and thrills.
OVERLORD (USA) 19 Oct 9.15pm | 20 Oct 8pm
Produced by JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot, Overlord is also a horror flick involving the army. This time, it’s WWII and American paratroopers encounter supernatural forces behind enemy lines.
THE FAKE (SOUTH KOREA) 20 OCT 5PM
Korean director Yeon Sang-ho is widely known in film circles now as the man who helmed the smash hit Train to Busan. What is less known is that Yeon cut his teeth making edgy animated horror films.
The Fake tackles the controversial topic of religious fanaticism as a convicted felon returns to his village to find it under the spell of an evangelical pastor.
THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT (DENMARK) 21 Oct 5pm | 27 Oct 8pm
Directed by vaunted auteur Lars Von Trier, the story follows Jack, a highly intelligent serial killer over the course of 12 years and depicts the murders that truly develop Jack as a serial killer.

… still there’s more …
